What Makes You Happy?

I often find myself pondering what really makes me happy. Yes there are things like a clean house, going on vacations, treating myself to a pedicure, etc that make me smile, but do these things really truly make me happy?

I love the feeling you get when you just got your hair done and you feel beautiful all day long. It makes you smile that contagious smile. Same as a pedicure and/or manicure. Ladies, if you're reading this and have never had such, GO NOW! You'll thank me later!

Do More Of What Makes You Happy Quote

But on a serious note, what does make you truly happy?

After putting some though to it, I have come up with a few things. It's not limited to just these things but they are high in the rankings.

When Zane accomplishes something for the first time and his excitement radiates. Like last night, I was reading him a book and he was trying to read along with me. Once he realized that he could read it on his own, his face lit up and he was so proud of himself.

When someone hugs me for no reason. This never happens enough. Yeah, as most people would, we greet each other with hugs. Those don't count. I'm talking about giving a hug just because. Just because someone needs it. I do that all the time with some people that I know, but others that don't know me enough might think I was some creepy perv. I'm not. I just like hugs, it's part of my love language so to speak.

I also find myself happiest when I'm sitting outside swinging in the swing just pondering life in my brain. Or sometimes not thinking about anything, at least I try to not think about anything.

I am a people pleaser and I try to make everyone else happy before myself. That doesn't mean I don't love myself, I just like to make everyone else happy before myself. This is where my anxiety kicks in gear. Not a good thing. If I feel like I am not accomplishing something I should be or having things in my control I get anxious. Then I get upset. I shouldn't be this way but I am. I don't do it on purpose, it just happens. I try not to be this way. I try hard not to be like this, but it happens. Almost every single time. Just ask the hubs.

So before this post turns into an anxiety post, "What Makes You Happy?" Can you right off hand tell me what makes you happy or do you really have to ponder the thought? Let me know in the comment section below and I will feature yours on my blog!

  1. Oh man, the day of a haircut is the best. Until I wake up the next morning and try to wash it and style it on my own and it looks like shit. That is NOT on my happy list! Where I live makes me happy - looking up and being able to see the mountains and woods around me is amazing. This is really such a hard question to answer!

  2. When I hear the boys playing nicely together. That really makes me smile. Especially if Nathan is teaching Logan something. That really warms my heart.

  3. What makes me happy is when my family is all together during the holidays, and we sit around the dinner table eating the foods that we've always eaten, telling the stories that we've always told, and just remembering how it was when we were kids. That to me, is bliss :)

  4. This is an awesome post that really makes me think and smile about the little things that truly make me happy. Lately, I am happiest when I finally get home to my boys, and they run to me so excited to give me big hugs...Brody wraps his little arms around my legs and refuses to let go. Of course, then he runs off again before I can pick him up to hug him back. Haha! I am just looking forward to a wonderful summer with lots of time with my family for now.

  6. I love how I feel like a new woman after getting my hair done!! Great feeling. And since I am alone Mon-Fri (fiancé travels for work), my dogs and I have a habit of good morning hugs every day. Sounds silly, but we do it and I tell them good morning every day.
