Happy Halloween Y'all!

Good Morning Y'all! Happy Halloween! I have been super super sick the last 48 hours so I am not up to a whole post today. Please forgive me.

Enjoy the day and eat LOTS of candy for me! My stomach cannot handle it!

The Incredible Hulk aka Zane says "Trick or Treat!" He will be going on a trick or treat adventure tonight to an event that our town holds. I hope that I can make it. I don't want to miss it.

Show & Tell: How I Met Your Father

Hey Y'all! I know, I've been gone WAY TO LONG! Sorry! I just fell out of blogland for a week. It was nice but I missed everything! I missed YOU the most!

What have I been up to? Well, LOTS!

We got kittens. I'm not too thrilled but Zane loves them! We drove to NC to visit the hubs! We went to the NC Renaissance Festival. We made another pumpkin in prep for Halloween. I painted my nails for Halloween. We drove around looking at the leaves, what's left of them anyway.

We've got a busy week and weekend ahead of us so bear with me this week! I've got posts in store and I cannot wait to share them with you! Today I am spending time catching up on all your blogs! I've missed y'all!

*********************************

I'm also linking up with Becky at From Mrs. to Mama!

1. Tell us about how and when you met your love and what attracted you most to him. It's a funny story. Steve and I have known each other since we were kids. My cousin lived beside him. Then years later we hung out with the same people in high school. He dated my best friend while we were in high school. Us three were like the musketeers. Always together. He is two years older than me. He would take us to parties and places all the time. He graduated and we went on to college. That summer my best friend cheated on him. He was so sad. Somehow I ended up consoling him and we became close friends. My best friend knew all of this and she was okay with it. She obviously didn't care too much about him. But I did and she knew it. We were cruising town one night and she encouraged me to ask him out. I told her she was crazy! That's not a girl's place to ask a guy out. Well she worked me up and convinced me to do it. I did, he said yes, {sounds weird!} and we've been together ever since! Oh and I'm not sure what attracted me to him at first, maybe his charming personality! Ha! If you knew him, you'd know that's a joke!

2. Show us the very first {or one of the first} pictures you guys ever took together. {Feel free to show us more than one} OH MY! I had the photo and now it's gone! Yikes! I hope to fix this issue tonight!

3. Tell us some of your favorite memories that you two had together. Dang! There are so many! How to chose? I think the BEST memories I have would be ALL of our random road trips. {before having Zane} We would take off on a Friday with no destination in mind. We would end up in some crazy places! It was fun none the less and our conversations while riding were the best!

4. Tell us your favorite qualities about this man, what makes him "the one." He's true to what he says. He's the most honest stand-up person I know. He does what he says he is going to do. Sometimes he can be too outspoken, but hey I get like that too. He is an amazing father to our son! He loves my Mama just as much as he loves his own! I first realized this when we were just dating! I knew he was then one!

5. Tell us what your "date nights" typically look like. Our date nights are usually few and far between. If we get a chance to go out on our own we typically go to dinner and a movie. Sometimes if it's the weekend we will go hang out with friends without kids. Sounds crazy but that's what we do. I've even convinced him into shopping on a date night! haha Gotta love him!

Next Weeks Questions: Careers/Your "Job"
1. Tell us what you studied in college. Is your job now related to what you studied?
2. Tell us what your everyday job looks like.
3. Do you have a picture of you at work? Show us.
4. In 10 years, what do you see yourself doing? Same thing? More? Tell us.
5. Tell us what you have learned, and what {if any} recommendations you may have for those looking to go into the field you are in.

Before I go, I am working on getting the Hubs to do a vlog! But I need your help!
I need you to ask him questions! ANYTHING CAN BE ASKED!

Goin Out With my Boots On

Well, not yet. I need some new ones! I love a good pair of boots. Fall is the perfect time to go out with your boots on! I have my eye on a few but I just can't commit! I have sashquatch feet! Yes. I know. I wear a size 11 in most shoes. Don't poke fun! My feet are also wide. It's VERY hard to find a pair of shoes that fit just right!

I'll tell you a sad story that happened not too long ago. On our way home from our Colorado vacation, we drove past this HUGE boot store!

I convinced the hubs to turn around and go! Yay so far! We walked around looking at clothes and coats. Knowing in my head, I was dying to go find a pair of boots to take home to sleep with. So we walked around more and looking at everything! Hats, home decor, all the animals mounted on the wall, everything! Then we finally made our way over to the boot section. I died. They had everything! Everything except a pair for me. I tried on several pairs and even had a girl helping me. I was sad to realize that I couldn't find a perfect pair to take home to cuddle with. Zane got a cute pair and a new coat!

I sucked it up and got over it, but I never gave up on the hunt. I still swoon over boots every single day! Like today, I have several pairs that I wish were in my closet at this moment!

Do you recommend a boot that had larger/wider sizes? What's your favorite?

Weerrrd to Ya Mutha!

Yall, I have issues with loading a vlog! I finally got it to load here! Please know that I just had finished walking/jogging 2 miles at my parents house. I was looking rough! {no make-up, hair pulled up and a mess}I love the fact that I can keep it real here! Oh and please laugh when I say "vee log". I did that on purpose because I heard someone say it that way and it made me laugh out loud!

Ever get a wild hair and just go crazy? Yeah! I know I do! I like to go do spontaneous things. All the time. That's where almost all of my tattoos and piercings have came from.

This time it's in the form of food. Brownies with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Icing! Say that 10 times fast! I follow Sarah on instagram and she shared this recipe through her blog and I HAD to make it!

It's been a busy month for us this fall! I am just going to share some pictures I've taken on all the adventures we've been on!

Secrets of a Trade {that I don't miss that much} & a Vlog!

Well I had a vlog for you guys but this stupid Movie Maker is not cooperating. I hate Windows Vista! I swear! I have this problem everytime I do a video. I will try to fix it this evening. So keep your eyes out for it!

*******************************************

So now you know my story of being a Stylist. Now, I've been known to give advice about hair styles, hair products, hair tools, etc. So today I am going to share with you a few things I know. You can thank Kelli for this post. You're Welcome. (said in the sarcastic voice of Sadie from MTV's Awkward)

(Sadie is such a bitch but she's funny!)

So secrets of the trade...as a lady you should already know the following:
  • you don't use hair ties with metal
  • you don't wash your hair everyday (use dry shampoo people!)
  • get your hair trimmed at least every 4-6 weeks, not to make it grow faster! It's to keep split ends away! You hair only grows about 1/2 inch a month unless your hormones have changed. (ex: pregnancy, menopause, etc.)
  •  wash you hair with beer to clarify your hair. yes, I said beer. One can is all you need! ;) Okay, maybe one to drink after you wash!
  • don't wear your hair in a ponytail everyday
  • if you have blonde hair use purple shampoo to keep it from yellowing or getting brassy
  • to get more

Somethings that you probably didn't know:
  • Don't use products with Alcohol in them. Look at ingredient lists on any gels, mousses, leave-ins or spritzes. If alcohol is one of the first three ingredients, leave it on the shelf. If it's farther down on the list, that's fine. You don't need to worry about a tiny amount. Hairspray, it's okay. That's what its made of.
  • To create volume...Mist your roots at the crown of your head with a volumizing spray when your hair is dry. Then blow-dry the section of the hair in the opposite direction that it normally falls while using your fingers or a brush to lift the roots up and over. Once dry, flip the hair over and gently smooth it out with a brush. You can do this on small sections around your entire head for even more major results.
  • The hotter the iron the better the curl. No ma'am! You will burn your hair right off your head or burn your skin! I'll admit that I always look for a curling iron or flat iron that gets the hottest. (450* or higher) BUT... I DO NOT USE IT AT THAT TEMPERATURE! I turn it down to about half way. If it's a Hot Tools iron like mine, I usually keep the setting at 15. The thicker the hair you can turn it up just a little. Don't forget to use a heat protectant!

  • Wanna know more? Just ask! I'll be glad to help!

The Trade that I Don't Miss {that much}

If you know anything about me you know that I was once a hairdresser/stylist/barber/colorist or whatever you want to call me. I loved what I did. I enjoyed making the world beautiful one head at a time!

Why don't I do hair anymore? Well first of all I started out in a 'chop shop'. Granted, I learned so much at this place, the good, the bad, and some very ugly! This was right out of high school, most girls went there, I didn't go there just because everyone else was doing it. I went there because I saw growth in the company. I loved that. You don't always think of growth in a hair salon. You just don't. But because it was a cooperate company there was always potential movement. After working there 4 years the only kind of movement I had seen was a key. Yes, that is a lot for some places but there were girls that I had more experience over and seniority over that were moving up. I questioned why this was happening and no one in management had an explanation other than that was their choice. There was lots of favoritism there. So I hung 'em a bird and left that dump!

After that, I became the manager of a brand new salon. I didn't have a clue what I was getting myself into. I had great guidance from the general manager but then she turned on me. She wouldn't offer advice anymore and the girls that were working for me were not reliable and sometimes would shut the salon down and leave for the day. Uh! So after a year of dealing with that I left and went to a barber shop.

The barber shop was great. There was only one person that worked there, the owner. She was awesome! We had a lot in common! She and her boyfriend loved to go off-road like we did! This barber shop had been there for years and had an older clientele. Old people get set in their ways and don't like to change their barber or hairdresser. I wasn't making any money. We struggled.
After that, I went on to working at a real estate office. I was there a year. Then I walked out because they were weird as hell and was trying to take my paychecks from me. Long story short: I got my ass out of there! I had a few other jobs and then I landed my telecommunications job which I loved until they shut the place down. That led me to where I am now. I love my job as an administrator! I work with 3 other people on a daily basis but it's for a HUGE company. I can't share much about it.
Anywho, I still have a passion for doing hair but I don't miss doing it every.single.day! I still do hair on the side every now and again. Mostly family and close friends.

Tomorrow I am going to share with you secrets of a trade that I don't miss {that much}. Get ready!

Show & Tell: When I was 17

When I was 17...
It was 2001
  • Cost of a gallon of Gas $1.46
  • it was the year Dale Earnhardt died
  • Monsters, Inc. and Shrek were released
  • Hanging by a Moment (Lifehouse) was #1 on the Billboard
  • Minimum wage in SC was $5.15
1. When you were 17, tell us what kind of car you drove, where you worked, and what you were usually up to on the weekends.

When I was 17 I drove a '91 hatchback Mustang. I loved that car! (for no payment of course!) I worked at a fish/seafood restaurant. I was the one who rolled the fried foods in batter. It was a nasty job! I also was a receptionist at a Great Clips. I swept up hair and took names! haha

2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.
I was right around 17 in this photo. I had bleach white ugly hair. This picture was taken inside of a truck {obvi} while we were watching the truck pull! I was probably three sheets to the wind too! I need to find a better picture...maybe later.

3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you "grew up."
I wanted to be a suscessful hair stylist. I wanted to work for Great Clips and move up in the company. That didn't work out so well.

4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.
This was the year I was still in my wild days. I wasn't worried about dating but I did hang out with a lot of guys. I was attracted to the guy with the biggest truck and the ones that always wanted to be outside doing stuff. (no, not that you perv!)

5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?

I was not a planner when I was 17. All I cared about was having money and getting freedom to go and do as I please. Boy, was I wrong! If I could go back to being 17 again with what I know now, I would change the way I did many things. But I am thankful to where it led me today.

Next Weeks Questions: Shopping

1. Tell us your favorite stores to shop at.

2. What are you "signature pieces" to wear.. your go-to outfits?

3. Show us your style through pictures {of you or pinterest finds}.

4. Show us your favorite celebrity style icons.

5. If you had to spend money on clothes or home items, which would you choose?

6. Show us your favorite accessories.

7. Tell us in one sentence your philosophy behind shopping. {What makes you buy an item}
